Neon Dreams and Urban Shadows | Inside My Cyberpunk-Themed Photoshoot
Makeup by Marta Bertrand.
In a world where the lines between man and machine blur, I wanted to capture the raw energy, rebellion, and futuristic grit that define the cyberpunk aesthetic. This photoshoot was more than just colored lights and cool outfits—it was a visual exploration of dystopia, identity, and survival in a hyper-technological world.
Location:
We shot deep in the heart of the city—neon reflections bouncing off wet concrete, alleyways lit by LED strips, and backdrops of graffiti and steel. The urban jungle became our canvas. With fog machines and backlit scenes, we created a vibe that felt straight out of Blade Runner or Ghost in the Shell.
Styling & Wardrobe:
Think techwear, chrome accessories, reflective fabrics, LED goggles, and asymmetrical silhouettes. Our models wore layered street fashion with a post-apocalyptic edge—capes, visors, cybernetic tattoos, and all. Every outfit told a story of resistance against a digital dictatorship.
Gear & Setup:
I used low-key lighting mixed with RGB LED panels to simulate futuristic glow. Smoke added texture to the frame, while high-contrast edits in post gave the photos that signature cyberpunk grit. I shot mostly with a 35mm prime for intimacy and a 24-70mm zoom to capture wider urban scapes. Color grading leaned into magentas, teals, and electric blues—colors that scream rebellion and tech-fueled decay.
Concept & Inspiration:
Cyberpunk isn’t just a look—it’s a feeling. It’s about rebellion, disillusionment, and hacking your way through a system that watches your every move. Through these images, I wanted to pose the question: What does freedom look like in a future controlled by code?
Final Thoughts:
This shoot reminded me that storytelling through visuals is limitless. Whether you're drawn to the tech or the grit, the cyberpunk world gives us the perfect setting to explore emotion, rebellion, and aesthetic without boundaries. More than a shoot—it was an escape into a digital noir dream.
