Mexico City in One Day

Blog by: Russo Mutuc

Back in June, 2013, I had a quick trip to Costa Rica, while en route to the country, I had a couple of hours layover in, Mexico City. At this point, it made me wonder why the country requires passengers to disembark the plane and go through customs/immigration, which felt very counter intuitive.

On my return flight home, it all made sense with the system behind having such long layovers and customs/immigration check-ins. The only difference with this layover, I had to be in the country/airport for eight hours. From what I saw, they actually want to you spend time in the country and spend. How convenient - the public buses, with police escorts readily available, every 15-20 minutes. A safe ride for any tourist entering the country. I decided to venture out of the airport and explore the city via, city bus and on foot. captured some street photography.

Mexico City is such a vibrant city, plenty of foods to explore and lots of architectural history. The culture and personality was vivid in almost every street corner. On this day, there was even a cultural event, happening in the center square.
