Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone To Reveal Something More

Finally, I was able to get out and photograph stories in the streets. This task has been long overdue, considering the amount of time I had in the last two weekends. I  had been planning on going, since a week ago, and capturing stories.

This time around I was determined to get what I needed, especially, it depended on a client's needs for prints. I'm currently on a project which I have to capture a cohesive story of DTLA, I have lots of it in my portfolio, but there are some pieces that are missing in this current project.

In my new perspective in life, I recently had changes in my life. I am now a new father, which prevents me from going into extreme situations, that can joepardize my family's well being.  These days I have to consider my safety even more.

Last night, my lack of control reverted me back into my old habits, "just go out and go for it". I stepped out of my comfort zone, and walked amongst the nigth owls. I set forth with the idea of photographing from night to early morning, hoping to capture stories that will visually stimulate me.

In between my driving around, setting up, looking for compositions, I took some behind the scenes. In this cell phone shot, I was in one of the alleyways near Skid Row around 3 AM. Great in location, but, unfortunately, rushed.

Several passing and curious pedestrians constantly looking and asking questions. Having to constantly watch my back, kept my focus away from the right composition I wanted. Given the right time, and free from constantly watching over my shoulder, I am sure I could've found a great photo or two.

As the night was ending, sunrise was just over the horizon. I made my way to 6th Street Bridge. One of my primary focus on this photo hunt. This bridge is doomed to be upgraded into a more modern one. So it's fitting to capture the look and feel of this bridge, before it's gone. As the sun was rising from the East, I made my way towards the center of the bridge, which little-by-little the stories revealed in my camera.
