Is Behind The Scenes Important For My Business?

In video, photography or cinema behind the scenes is documenting the action behind the camera, capturing the life and style on set. A glimpse at what our work life looks like on set.

Should you be capturing behind the scenes (BTS) for your business? Absolutely! BTS has been used as a powerful marketing material for the project, organization or person. If you're not capturing, you are missing out on important content. Movies have dedicated BTS camera person capturing stories as they film.

When you capture BTS it's often used in social media, many are posting BTS to show they are actively work and/or working on something really cool. Your viewers or potential client can clearly see you know what you're doing and doing it well. Having fresh content to post from BTS has a good chance of you getting hired for future gigs or jobs.

What should you capture with behind the scenes?
Capture as much as you can with photos and/or videos. You can even get creative with a more stylized photos or videos. For example, you can probably shoot photos with slow shutter speed to make the action blurry and make cameras, lights, props static.  Or, get all the action sharp and freezing time as the crew is working. With videos there are features like stop motion, time lapse, slow motion that can enhance the look of the BTS video.

When I shoot at the studio for our YouTube platform, we interview guest. I take every opportunity to capture as much BTS before, during and after filming. I jump back and forth from photos to videos. More than half of the content shot on BTS is  constantly used to create posts and marketing material.

So don't be afraid to go out and capture stories with BTS.
