"Tequila Sunset" - Tales from the Mexican Desert
Blog by: Russo Mutuc
Last month, I was invited to go to Mexico and check out the town of San Felipe, and the new development projects. This is the new frontier for Baby Boomers living in California, Arizona, and Nevada. A desert dream that rivals the Mexican Riviera, for retiree's.
The weekend was themed, 'Tequila Festival'. Just after arriving into town, the gorgeous sunset would blanket the town with the Mexican sun.
"Snow birds relocating to sunny weathers to bask in the sun." was a quote I heard from a random ex-pat.
My best highlight was the food. I was really impressed with the amount of seafood the town had to offer. I was looking to come back home, a few pounds heavier.
San Felipe sits on the beaches, North of the Sea of Cortez. A town rich with cultures and personalities, and only 5-6 hrs drive from Los Angeles. The weather was something to really appreciate, considering it was consistent all-year-long. You can sit on the beach, enjoy about 80 degrees of warm weather, and be cooled off by the breeze from the ocean. And, the water was warm!
Enjoy some of the pictures I took from the area.
Early morning stroll at the beaches of San Felipe.
A bowl of fresh warm Menudo to start the morning right.
