Another Short Film in the Bag

Blog by: Russo Mutuc

Last week, we just completed another short film. The concept of the film was more like a portrait look at an artist. The director wanted to shoot the three minute piece with nice angles, lighting, and photography.

I guess my official title for this project is Director of Photography. I still never get use to using official title. I always feel like I need to gain the title before I can actually use it. Since I'm surrounded by some of the top DP's in the industry, I've learned that I need to go through the process of learning, and putting in the years, before using it loosely. But there is no other way of not using it. To title the name on the film, it has to be used. So we move on...

Here are some pictures behind the scenes. Excuse the low quality of the pics.
Sample shot list from the shoot

The day before the filming I had rented the Canon intervelometer to practice before the actual shoot. This is the first time I am photographing time lapse. So I spent my later afternoon trekking gear up Griffith Park and camping out for several hours to capture the sun setting. The movement coming from hikers in the trail.

Math! Believe it or not it took us almost 30 minutes trying to figure out the slider shot for our time lapse rig.

Finishing up the day shoot, we ended up in the beach to capture the last require shot list. The sunset was perfect!
