Street Photography Action at the New Downtown LA Grand Park

Blog by: Russo Mutuc

I recently got the chance to get out for a bit and shoot some street photography, after several months doing commercial work. It was nice to take a break and re-kindle with my first true passion, street photography. Shooting in the street has such a huge value, as a working professional, I can see the difference now on the countless hours I had invested driving around Los Angeles, and finding stories to shoot. All those years, I learned so much from finding focus, subjects, composition, and light.

On this day, I soon realized how finding and seeking stories, in the streets, has slowed down my reaction. At first, I was really rusty, looking for subjects that I wanted to capture, it took me about an hour looking around without shooting anything. My selective needs has changed a bit more, before I could easily find subjects and light and be able to create something memorable. Now, I find myself analyzing even more at what I want to shoot. Perhaps that could be a good thing, considering the discipline we should take when it comes to shooting digital photography. Minimizing my shots to less than 24 frames on a DSLR. After a couple of hours shooting, I came up with the best photo I took on this day.
